Farfetch, the leading global technology platform for the luxury fashion industry, has today opened its new Creative Operations Centre in the city of Guimarães, a facility which is double the size of its previous centre in the city at 80,000 square feet. The facility, which was designed and purpose built by Farfetch, houses the company’s digital production operations: here, the majority of items sold on the Farfetch marketplace are individually styled, photographed, image-edited and loaded onto the platform for lovers of fashion around the world to discover and buy.
Luís Teixeira, Chief Supply Chain Officer and Portugal General Manager, says, “It is fantastic to be opening our new centre in the city where we have had our creative operations for the last ten years. This centre will be the largest of our four global production centres, able to process hundreds of thousands of products each year. Our teams of professional stylists, models and photographers create incredible product pictures which help our customers choose the items they love. At this centre in Guimarães we will also develop curated content, such as merchandise descriptions, size and fit information and measurement information to ensure our customers have a great experience on Farfetch as they shop our unrivalled range of fashion.”
Farfetch’s new creative operations centre will house over 40 studios and will produce the majority of the production content the company creates. It has the capacity of processing 4,000 items a day.
“In Guimarães we have specialist teams working across photography, styling, post-production, content, quality control and data analysis. This centre has been evolving and is today responsible helping to develop newer professions in Portugal, like styling and image editing. The investment in this new space is also an investment in people and is an incredible environment and a great place to work,” says Teixeira.
In Portugal, Farfetch has now four offices, located in Porto, Lisbon, Braga and Guimarães. The first three focus on technological development and the last is the only space in the country oriented to the development of digital content and assets.
